On Mopars a shroud is not essential, its nice but not essential. Sorta like flushable baby wipes. If you really need them you have a problem.

I cannot think of a single Mopar through the muscle car years that didn't have a fan shroud. So, I guess that makes it essential.
 
Toilet paper isnt essential either but it makes the process of going to the bathroom a whole lot more efficient lol
