I had a 93, club cab, V6 Mag for a daily. Drove that mother Everywhere! Great Lil trucks Man! I remember the brakes went out.. I made it 5 miles home, in Tampa, running lights and stop signs (strategically, of course), jumping curbs, whipping into parking lots, doing of few fast turns, and going round with er to get er home. Built a giant wood gate where the Duster and the bikes were out back. Only thing I hit... Thank God! I made it outta 2x8s... didn't hurt muchSorry to hear about the other one getting wrecked. I have allways wanted to build a street/strip Dakota ever sense I saw one at the drag strip a long time I ago. Now that A/B body’s. Are getting so damn $$$ exspenseive. I decided to build a Dakota. Lol
JEE-PAR! those are damn near Bullitt proofStumbled across this thread while researching what other swaps people have done. Here is mine, picked up a 95 Dakota with a seized 2.5L in it, decided to have some fun and swap in a 4.0 I6. Fair amount of work yet but the hard stuff is done. Bed color will be the full color of the truck when done.

Love the Dakotas !! keep the posts coming ! as I said a few years ago if I didn't have my 92 D150 from new I would build oneI don't have one or have ever owned one but I do think they make cool looking hot rods and or race trucks. Enjoy looking at the different pictures being posted up.
On my 91 I got tired of trying to get some header exstions to work around the factory cross member. After some research I found put the holley black hart crossmember would work on my dakota. I just had to redrill two frame mount holes on the holley crossmember on the drivers side. The holley black hart crossmber was designed to install a gen3 hemi in a 87-96 dakota. It even has different mounting plates for different model transmissions. Here is some pics of it installed on my dakotaCrammed in the 340 stroker motor (418) today. First mockup.
Using the 833 trans and found the header hitting the scattershield. Also have to move engine back 1/2 inch to mount tranny to crossmember or make a different trans mount.
Hooker 5803 long tube headers.

97 Ford Exployer 8.8. Caltrac springs. Weld prostar 15x10 with 5.5 BDWhat rear-end? Springs? Backspace of rims?
Here is a picture of my Dakota I took at my home track a few weeks ago. It was the last race of the year. I installed a kevco racing oil pan. I had been useing the stock dakota oil pan. I also put on MT ET Street R 296/65/15 tires. It wasn't much but I ran a new best of 1/8 mile 7.12 and a 11.21 1/4 mile time. I hope to start building my stroker gen3 hemi this winter.

Thanks. The first time I saw one racing was at the track a long time ago. It was blue and was pretty fast. That truck is what got me hooked on wanting to build one.Congrats! Very nice truck! Back in the day there was a Dakota vert running around town and I fell in love at 1st sight.
Thanks. Yes it is. I sent a message to Holley about how easy it was to make there cross member work with the magnum engine. But I never heard back from themWell done! The Holley crossmember is a nice piece.
