Anybody feel like discussing Old Mopar/Motorola hybrid AM radios?

I don't really intend to listen to the radio in my Toad, Darthomas. First of all, I don't like AM radio very much, and second, I filled the antenna hole in my Toad's fender when I restored it.

But it will be fun, purely as an academic exercise, to try to get the radio working on the bench.

On a Toad, you have to remove the speaker grille and speaker first, and then lift the radio up and out through the speaker hole. Hope I don't break the grille when I remove it. I have heard that those are NLA.

Well there's often little to hear on AM regarding music these days...when I was using mine, I was doing something about that problem by operating a radio station that went 2 miles and using that radio as my studio monitor.
You could get an antenna that is a tiny wire along top of the windshield.
If there's no antenna why do you think it's broken?
No sound at all?

Darthomas: "Class A."

Of course, because it's single-ended. Forgot about that.

I haven't pulled the radio yet, Darthomas, because I've been busy with other stuff, but now it has started raining so I will probably do it soon.

In the meantime, here are some interesting links that I found about space-charge radios. As well as Motorola, apparently Philco made certain models of these hybrid radios for Chrysler.
