Anybody know anything about flowers? Question?

Not an automotive question, but gotta ask somewhere.

Anybody know the name of this plant, (flower)

One is in bloom a few houses down from me, and would like to find out the flower name.

And the current tenants haven't a clew to the species.

Never seen before, but i'm pretty sure if you pull some plants it will grow fast in your garden! Ask the owner for some samples.
By the way, it would be a nice Modtop vinyl for a B5 blue Barracuda

We call that "Thrift" down here. Comes in a variety of blues and purples. It's real purdy and real easy to keep isolated to one spot.

I enjoy growing flowers and plants. Its a hobby of mine. That plant just is not one i was familiar with.

Infact the only reason I know how to look stuff up like that is I was talking to a guy about some flowers of his that I liked and he could not remember what they were called so he showed me how to use google to look up stuff with my phone camera.

That was last year. All these years and I never knew how to use one of the most handy features of a cell phone....

I have something similar growing wild in my yard, but the flowers are teeny tiny, about the size of a .177 pellet. Pretty, curious of what they`re called.

We have this Creeping Phlox growing in our yard. It just started flowering. Looks similar to the plant above.

all i know about flowers is, they are expensive and they can sometimes get you back in the bedroom.

If you're using a computer just use your mouse to "right click" on an image. One of the options that pop up will ask you to search google for that image.

Appears that PattyFalcon revived my posting from the spring time.
Once i found out the species of the plant, i went over to a local nursery here in Sacramento, (Green Acres) and purchased a couple of pots of them.
Planted them along the walk way, into the house.
I like them, as they are a very colorful flowered plant.
But i was rather disappointed with them after the blooming season, and they started to die out towards the end of the year.
Guess I'll buy again in the springtime of 2023, and plant again.
My neighbors plants, three house down from me, just keep coming back every year, so did i do something wrong, in my planting? Dunno?

If they're the same thing we have out on the bank by our place, they will come back every year, and they spread. My wife calls them Rock Garden Flowers, but I have heard them called Flox and Thrift. The ones we have here are pretty hearty and will about grow on asphalt! There are several different colors too. I've seen blue, purple, pink and yellow.

Transplants require an abundance of water. Once the roots get established they are a lot hardier.

It's great that you were able to identify the species of the plant and found some to plant along your walkway! It's disappointing when they don't thrive as expected, but it sounds like you're planning to give it another shot in 2023. Maybe checking out a California super bloom wildflowers guide could give you some insight into different varieties that might be more resilient in your area. Good luck with your next planting adventure!

In order to come up every year, you need to make sure they are perennials. In our climate anyway.
