i have a msd 6al that i wanted to hook up in a 74 duster to get it running, but i have no clue how. anybody have a wirring diagram? thanks in advance

i see the diagrams. thank you. now i need to figure out which setup does a 74 duster have? what about a 70 duster?
at the moment , i am trying to hook it up in the 74 duster

well the 74 would have electronic ign. so its the lower pic. the 70 should unless someone changed it have points so its the top picture.

where it says to leave chrysler module unplugged, does the refer to the orange box?

yes your stock ign box stays unplugged when using the msd.. they show you a way to wire it so you can go back to the stock set up if needed. i usually remove the stock stuff for a cleaner install.

also, the 70 has a "orange box" on it. does that mean that someone coverted it to electronic ignition?

sounds like it. really the only difference is the dist. you just use the violet and green for the electronic ign. and the white wire gets used for a points dist. every thing else is basically the same.

sounds like from what your saying you'll just us the violet and green wires for your dist. and the white wire will not be used.

thank you for the awesome 101 class joe.lol
i just feel like i am a pro at putting in a msd ingnition box already, and i did not even start the install.lmfao

lol.. no problem.. they are pretty easy to install once you look at it close and get into it... if ya have any problems just let us know. we should be able to walk ya through it.

one last thing, i got the car with no coil hooked up, is there a way to tell the two coils wires from each other? negitive? positive?

+ coil will have key power. -coil on an electronic ign car should be black with a yellow tracer and run to your orange box.

wow, i love the quick answers.lol thanks

lol.. well i'm outta here. gotta go to work. pm me if ya need any more help. i check in from time to time with my phone at work.

ok, so it says that the little pink wire goes to the original coil positve, so do i just put it on the coil positive side with the orange wire?

ok, i got it. never mind. i am stupid. i do not use the two coil wires comming out of harness for the coil with the msd, but i do splice the little pink into the pos. wire on old coil, and tape up the other.?

Depends on your install. You keeping all the stock stuff? If so they give ya all the connectors to keep all the old wires and add the msd wires. That's what make the pictures confusing.

If your gonna take all the stock stuff out the negative coil wire will come out in the orange box harness.

The original positive coil wire goes to the small red wire coming out the msd. That will now be key power for the msd

yea, i will be keeping all the stock wires. i am just putting in a msd and blaster coil in the car to get it running. when i got the car, it had no "orange box", the only thing that the car is missing is the orange box, and coil

Ok. If you gonna keep the stock stuff under the hood while running the msd the tap in the wires like the pictur says.

Is that the diagram that has the wires coming out of the distributor crossed up. I can't remember.

If the car currently runs, get a timing reading at idle before installing the MSD. Once you get it installed, if the timing has changed, reverse the two wires coming out of the distributor. If you hook it up backwards the timing move about 30*.

well, the msd i have already had the adapter wire for the distriutor hooked up,
