Anyone using one of these coils on their A-body???

yeah, I guess I've never owned one. Are parts readily available for these at any parts store? I guess I was looking for something that I was more familiar with.

Yes. For replacement parts availability, you have the dead best distributor/ignition system HANDS DOWN. WalMart sells tuneup kits for them and I ain't kiddin. EVERYBODY has caps, rotors, coils, modules, pickups and on and on and on. That's REAL HEI and THE most popular. You hit the jackpot with that. Keep it. All you need to do if you have a failure is ask for parts for a 1975 Chevy "whatever" with a 350. Done.

Well, they are good for a lot of things. I wish more people would open their minds more. Chevys can be badass. They brought a lot to the table. With the LS, they still do......and if anybody HATES to admit that, it's me.

I am all corn fused. Ask about coil, and need for ballast on a--body. Then much later say it has hei... No ballast required for that... period.

The GM style big cap with coil in there can have long term connection problems . Not sure how to external coil. Big cap may not fit and adjust well in engine compartment without big hammer.

Ford TFI coil from V8, better than mopar e-core, cheap too. That is only good ford part I know.

No need to be confused. I have A-bodies and one of them I was going to try and eliminate the ballast resistor. But like butter, it can be spread on more than one piece of toast.... and in this case, it got spread on my van as well. LOL

Keep the HEI. Buy a spare if it bothers u, or just a spare module. But my god points is going totally backwards. If u do points just use the power wire from the dist, install a ballast between it and the coil. Negative from dist to neg on coil. Done deal. Kim
