Anyone Using Starting Line Enhancer on A-Body?

Hello all,

I'm curious if any A-body bracket racers on here are using starting line enhancers. I'd like to see how you modified your accelerator pedal, throttle linkage (morse cable?) and throttle linkage bracket/solenoid mounting on the engine intake. Most of what I have seen online is for dragster applications, not door cars. Thanks in advance.

It's an air actuated device that allows the driver to put the accelerator to the floor and maintain an idle condition on the engine. Once the trans brake button is released, the engine goes wide open at launch. It simplifies the starting line procedure and doesn't require the engine to bang off the rev limiter until the car launches.

That was the rage about 35 years ago. It's not as in vogue as it used to be. It can be a hassle always having to have a bottle/s of Co2 around to operate it.

I run one and it was a game changer for me when I put it on. My lights really got better when I no longer had to worry about flooring the gas pedal after reacting to the top bulb. I will look for pictures and post them if I have them. If I don't, I will take some when I put my engine in over the winter.

Is it on your handle bars lol, gotta be somewhere weird, I don't see a master cylinder in the engine compartment

It’s in the floor to the left of my seat and the brake pedal is about 1 foot ahead of it. It needs moved but that’s another thing on the “to do” list.
 
I had one on my car for a little over a year while I tried top bulb racing before I came to the conclusion I have 2 feet for a reason. With that said I used the Biondo starting line one. I used my stock throttle cable. What I did was use a piece of angle iron and bolted it to the startling line enhancer that I attached the cable to. These are the only pictures I took hope it helps.

That’s a pretty nifty way of doing it
 
Biondo Racing can help you out with anything you need just go to their website or call them. I have a DD starting line enhancer in my car but am not currently using it. Its basically a spring loaded lever that you mount next to your shifter that you adjust via a thumbscrew to get your desired leave RPM and it attaches via a cable to the bottom of the carb linkage .. you hold the lever while launching with no need to look at the tach upon launch you just release the lever. I was considering an air shifter for my car but was talked out of it by several racers due to inconsistencies in air pressure etc.

Air shifter is an awesome way to go as well. Sorry you were talked out of it. I’ve only seen more consistent shifts with my air shifter and others who I race with. It’s pretty simple. I’m shocked others have had issues. Make sure the co2 bottle is full and doesn’t leak. Ensure it’s set between 110-120psi. Ensure the trigger mechanism is wired properly and set up correctly. Works like a charm. We are installing an air shifter in my dad’s roadrunner this winter using his turbo action shifter and biondos co2 setup. Can’t wait.

Powerglides have the luxury of being able to shift electronically with no worries of co2. We don’t have that option with a 727 to my knowledge.

Yes I spoke to Biondos about an electric shifter but they aren't available for my Turbo Action shifter only if I change my valve body to forward pattern. I run a trouble free 904 , I constantly have friends trying to talk me into a power glide .. it would be expensive with me having to change to much of my combination.

That’s the biggest reason I don’t change to a glide. Just too much money to do the whole deal. And if you ever decided to do an air shifter for your 904. I don’t think you’ll regret it. I know people have had issues with turbo action air shifter in the past, but I haven’t seen issues with those I know who have it.
