anyone wanna guess what my 1/8 mile will be

I have a 71 dart no interior besides race seat. Its a 69 340 .30 over with flat top pistons and stock j heads. Has .484 purple shaft cam , headers into 2.5 inch exhaust with h pipe that dumps by rear seat. Has a 750 Holley vacuum secondaries and Edelbrock RPM Air Gap. Has ladder bars and 3.23 gears , also a 3k stall converter. Not my first time at track and I know the 3.23 are hurting but cant afford to change right now. I will probably run a 8 to 9 inch slick.. Im guessing 8.85 Im optimistic because car feels strong and I didnt build engine just going buy what owner said. He told me he ran 9.2 on street tires so... his 60 foot had to suck
 
I hate guessing 1/8th mile numbers with no known comparible performance (slicks) to go off of............but here goes,

8.40/8.60 @ 80ish mph.

With a 26" tire, you'll probably cross the stripe in 2nd gear about 5000 rpms.

I believe your engine should easily produce the power to get there, and even faster. But with the 3.23's and the unknown quality/performance of the installed converter, i think my numbers are a good starting point.

I use to own a 61 Ranchero straight axled Gasser with a stock 86 302 motor with Edelbrock heads and a 600 Holley .It was a 4spd Toploader and 3.55 gears.It would run 8.60's all day long on plain street tires .I drove it 275 miles to the races and back home .You should have no trouble going faster with what that 340 has cam wise ...
 
8.80's 79-81 mph with that gear the convertor is a plus but I think the 3.23 will kill ya. I really can't see the 60' any better than a 2.00.
 
I ran my numbers in post #2 independant of this, but just for personal reference........1970 Duster 340, factory engine, iron manifolds, stock converter, 3.23 open gear and G6014 belted tires. Only mods were a DC/MP .474" purple cam, 780 vac carb, and a good advance curve.............This car went 13.81 @102.3. Big mph, but if you take the ET and convert to the 1/8th, it's in the 8.78/8.80 range. Sadly back then we were lucky to get our mph on the hand written slips, no 1/8th or 60's...lol......This Dart has way more engine and a little better converter, plus with slicks, i think i'm still in the ballpark.

P.S. For those that think a mild 340 can't take some cfm......the same combo with the stock AVS ran 14.01 @101.6 :D.

My street car (Ford Focus Turbo) runs 9.0 @ 80mph. on the 1/8mile launch is everything, you don't have the opportunity to use top end grunt like you do on the 1/4

If you have the 3.91s go on and put them in. I was running about the same eingine but with eddy heads. I had a 1 legged 3.55 and ran 9.0s. I swapped to the posi 3.91s and 8.3 to 8.5s spinning. That is with drag radials. I also don't have a stall and a smaller cam.

I raced allot on an 1/8 mile track and by going with the shortest rear tire will help the 3.23 gear , put pie cutters on the front and air them way up to max pressure
Good cool air and gas I can see this making a 8.15 pass if you can peddle the car out of the hole. you will be at the end of 2nd gear or very close to it.
a good tune and cold gas will take a tenth off on a 85 degree day Had to put my 2 cents worth in.

My '75 Duster with a 360 with J heads with 1.88 intakes, 282 484 purple cam, Performer RPM dual-plane, 600 DP MSD ignition, 1 5/8 Flo-Techs into 2 1/2 Flowmasters and H-pipe, 3.55 gears with spool, 904 with low gear set and TCI $700 converter, battery in trunk and weighing 3200 with me and a full tank of fuel runs 8.00 at 85 mph in cold weather and 8.20 in July at 1000' sea level in NC. I can disconnect the secondaries and it will slow down 1/2 second in the 1/8. I would guess that your dart would run 8.50 @ 80 mph. The converter alone can make a 1/2 second difference in ET's.

Id be happy with 8.5
 
Update I switched to 3.91 gears from the 3.23 and Im running MT ET drag slicks . They are 26x14x8.5 . I got the 14 inchers because I got a good deal on used slicks and rims. Now you will need to adjust your guess on my 1/8 miles guys....
