Are dart sports mostly gone

To be clear, I was JOKING. I know that the staff here gets really angry with members that stray from the rules regarding sales ads and such.
To add....yeah, the D-Lite I have here was a slant six, manual 4 speed model with no A/C, not even a radio. ALL of the lightweight stuff has been removed and sold before I got the car. Restoring this parts car would be a huge labor of love with absolutely no chance of recouping the investment. It is a 1976 model too which to be registered here in California means that I'd need to track down all the original type emissions equipment to pass a state licensed emission inspection. NONE of that stuff is in the car and very few people would have saved it when scrapping a car.
Maybe it could be made to pass an inspection if it were equipped with a newer engine as long as that engine had all of it's own year model emission equipment in place and functioning properly.
Yeah, it is a parts car. I'll be cutting floor pans to fix another car and stripping off other bits and pieces too.

I have a 73 dart sport and we pulled a 75 dart sport out of Newport, Washington in July. I can get you the complete taillight assembly for your car at the Junkyard near the house when I get home. I know where they are sitting in one of the storage busses. This Yard will be closed in May due to Owner not finding a buyer for the yard.
Hi there I'm looking for a set of bezels so if you can have ablook I'd even take the complete assembly if I have to...Patrick nine zero 5, 8twenty two, forty eight 32

As many others have said here, the beaker cars are not sought after cars. Lots of Pintos were made back in the day but not many are around now.

Why do you think there are more 70 Demon’s listed at auctions/for sale posts than 73-76 Dart Sports? More Dart Sports were produced than Demons! All traces back to ‘demand’. Nothing mysterious at all.

Since you live in Colorado, I live in Parker, have you checked out the wrecking yard on the frontage road off I-25 in Dano, up near the circle track?

Demons were produced in 1971-72 only, 1970 Dusters were the inspiration thanks to the sales success they enjoyed.

When we start talking any cars of 73 and newer, we are getting into the "malaise" era!!! 5 mph bumpers, detuned engines, NO real performance stuff!! and more silly stuff!!

But better brakes, better K frames, better sway bars, better ball joints, etc.

I mean, doesn’t seem like a lot of folks leave their engines factory stock so a detuned factory engine isn’t much of an issue…

Yes I agree with some better parts for sure. But,,,I also hate on the 73 up Duster, plastic inside A trim, the plastic upper door trim, child size inside door handles, huge bumpers, with that plastic filler, etc. Try finding any of that plastic trim worthy now days. The beaker front does not bother me.

Price/value wise is what i am talking. $$$$$$$...
Any F body, yea I have had 4-5. Any 73 up Nova likewise is worth squat. They don't call them malaise for nuttin!! :poke:

Is it my imagination or have dart sports mostly disappeared.

I don't know why 2010 stands out to me as one of my best car years in my life. I was looking at a 75 dart sport in perfect original condition for a thousand bucks. My dad said, I should look for something older, so I did.

Seemed like original dart sports were around and they were no big deal.

Now I'm trying to put together a 74 L code 360 dart sport and seems like dart sport specific parts are gone and without a trace. Taillights are nearly impossible to find and the breed of car just seems very seldom seen. I really don't think I have ever seen one at a car show. Maybe a scarce few sightings over the last 15 years.

I am wondering if they were low production or what happened to most of them?
Taillight bezels are being reproduced.

On a Duster all the A-pillar trim is plastic right from '70 up, Demon had plastic trim for '71/'72 and the Dart Sport of course for '73+. There's no metal A-pillar trim for a Duster or the equivalent Dodge models that share the sport roof.

As for price/value, you can get a '73+ Duster or Dart Sport for less than their '70-'72 counterparts. And if you buy a V8 car or a disk brake optioned /6 you get the BBP brakes. Not sure if you've priced a BBP conversion lately, but it's a significant savings.

And with all that saved money you can swap the front clip and rear bumper and still be money ahead vs buying a '70-72. That's what I did, and despite the Demon conversion I did on my '74 Duster I know I'm money ahead vs buying a '71 Demon, especially when you throw in that my '74 was in far better shape than any of the '71 Demon's I looked at. And I got it for less than half the price.

Yea 72blunblu, the 73-74 Dusters and Dart Sports were actually the best ones ever built, but most people are not aware of all the improvements that happened. They just see the 5 mph bumpers and don't like them. It takes 5 minutes to remove them. They were not really detuned until later, just went to the net HP rating. The Slant and 318 were basically the same, and the 360 hp in 74 was the best Duster/Dart Sport ever built with all the better stuff you mentioned above plus electronic ignition, a bigger Thermoquad, and safety features.

What is the purpose of the under hood fender braces on some of the cars?
Doesn't seem to be a real reason I can see.

Something to add cross brace and also something to add bling when triple plated.
Im wonder what other Mopars used them as was looking for some from a more common car to grab them from.

Ford cars had this in the 60s.
There is a tendency for the front section of the car to shift diagonally under some driving conditions. The bracing is meant to reduce that.
1973 was a year of major change to the Mopars. Brakes got better, steering components improved, great efforts were made to reduce vibrations in the B body line but those were a big step backwards regarding handling due to deflection.

^^^ I agree. Those braces on my 60s Fords are always in the way!! Plus they are like 2 1/2 inches wide.
Yes, those 71 up B bodies were nice road cars, a little heavier than the previous ones, and the rubber insulated rear shock plates to come we not for handling, just ride quality.
The the F bodies came along and paint went top chit!

One Repaint. Bought New in New Orleans Parish by an older Genteman. Second owner drove back and forth to college {One of my friends sons} Oil pressure dropped to zero, the 340 needed full rebuild. Wiped cam/ lifters, killed bearings but crank polished up. Yes, rings bad, so needed rebore to clean up. So gave away the rods and crank and made it into a 422ci stroker
