Are you quarantined or still working ?

Forestry deemed essential. Lots of filtration and sanitation stuff comes from wood pulp. Not to mention toilet paper.
I’ve been working from home though. We’ve been keeping our 2 year old at home cuz he’s a little germ factory!
Stay safe out there ya’ll.
That’s how I stay working is the forestry deemed essential. Make hydraulic tubes for wood chippers and grinders.

I work in semiconductor and we are considered essential due to medical, defense and communication customers. The company has gone through great lengths to protect employees. All that are not hands on are work from home. Restricted to 3 points of entry with hand sanitizer and temp taken prior to entry. Each shift enters from different part of building. Most chairs removed from break areas and being monitored for social distancing. Even closed off every other urinal. Cafe is order online and deliver to break area. So far, so good.

Well they sent me home yesterday. New policy is that if you were in NYC in the past 14 days you need to self quarantine for 2 weeks. We flew into JFK airport last Saturday on our way back from Curacao (another story) and I had already been back to work for week. My wife hasn't been back to work since our return per her boss. We took lots of precautions on our trip back so I am not worried but most people did not. No wonder NYC and surroundings are in such bad shape. We are 80 miles north of the city and between the taxes, rude people, congestion cost of living and being a target, I can't wait for retirement to move away from here.
Sorry for the rant. Stay healthy.

I run the cleaning in a large textile mill. The mill (and us) laid off next week, then return for a week, then laid off another week. Mostly due to not being able to get materials for production.

1st round of lay offs yesterday, 8 truck drivers. Still 50 guys below me. Ohio is paying 100% unemployment $485 plus the "care act" 600....not bad. Cobra is 425 a week though but at least now the financial worry is on the back burner.

I work in NYC, I commute on the train.
What a difference in ridership from a month ago.... Went from full seats with minimal standing room to empty. Only 1 person was in the car with me today.
Thats about 100 people less than normal per car on a 12 car train...

Times Square NYC, pics taken today at 12 noon. On a normal Saturday this place is packed.
The “Naked CowBoy” is still out there...
Pun intended... Lol

Essential because we produce parts for AG and military. Reached out as soon as the shelter in place started going down as we are Tier 1 to the OEMs but needed to keep our supply chain producing. Orders have not changed at all prior to yesterday. European plant shut down this week and last, orders finally dropped yesterday. 25% for year with most in next 8 weeks for Europe only.

India still pushing orders, which makes no sense... NOrth American customers keep pushing for more / pull ins. I think they are full of crap and just trying to get stuff on hand so they deal with labor vs component availability. I was amazed the AG companies in NA didn’t shut down when Detroit went down. UAW in a lot of plants we supply. Spoke with a VP of Purchasing to discuss situation... his opinion was they would shut down. Leadership meeting to discuss situation, expect a shutdown.

Day later we receive a letter that both President and DHS deemed their operations essential. So on we go and try to manage it best we can.

New job at flour mill. One week after starting I came down with something. Only time I checked I had 100.4 temp. Three days, but it was pretty mild considering. Nothing serious from it. Company has plan in place, my illness came before company made rule about 100.4 temp; if you have one stay home. But we make flour, bulk shipments, 50000 lbs in trucks, 200000 in rail cars. Essential job cause people gotta eat. Saturday the 28th is first day off in 13. 8 hours days but still. Oh, and company gave letter to hand to police if questioned as to why I'm out and about. This hasn't really changed my behavior as I don't really go out as it is.

We're workin till somebody gets sick or until the cops patrol the county enough to keep us home. lol

I was off last week, and that was suppose to be it, but found out yesterday I'll be off for two more weeks.

I'm hearing rumors we may do the same. We were supposed to be off this week, go back for a week, then have another week off. Now, it may be 3 weeks off. I hope not...

I guess I should be glad I'm retired and work part time to pay for my car parts.
No work for the last 2 weeks so no car parts this month so looks like my car will not be restored and on the road for sometime.

I re-retired. Company called me in to help out with all the craziness. I told them yesterday that I wasn't working anymore, for the simple reason, if someone gets sick, they will quarantine the whole department. With me out of the picture, they at least will have a back up plan.

At least we're getting paid, for now anyway. Who knows what will happen if this drags on an on.

Scored today! Last 2 on the shelf. Weird, about 7 at night. Did a stock run for 2 of the 3 boys and made my rounds with supplies. Tough seeing grandbabies with no hugs or kisses. Felt guilty getting both packs, but they got divided up lol. $30 too, not cheap lol
We kept the Charmin'
