hey guys i am wiring a 4 channel radio into my demon. am i better off to wire up the two 6x9's in the back with the front 4x10 or just use the two 6x9's?

If you don't want to put speakers in your door or kick panels, you can buy or make a plate and bolt two 3 1/2 " speakers in the stock location in your dash and run the front two channels to those.

I have two 6x9s in the rear package tray, two 6 1/2 speakers in the kick panels, 2 3 1/2 " speakers in the dash, and a 10 inch sub in the trunk. But that's just me. I like to rock!

i hear that. but i was just wondering if the 4x10 would even make a difference. the 6x9 got to be over powering that 4x10 up front

The problem with running the single 4x10 up front is that you would only be getting the right or left channel depending on which you hook to it. If your radio has a mono feature you could get around that but then you lose the stereo effect. Just do the two 6x9's or make a plate (a member here is selling them pre-made right now in the classifieds!) and mount two 3.5"speakers in the dash. Or, do as BrianT did and rock out! The single 4x10 is only goog for AM radios IMO and not worth messing with!

Actually, when I got everything together, the two 3 1/2's in the dash were louder than the other four speakers. I had to turn the gain up on my amp so that everything sounded equal. They are closest to your ears and the sound bounces off the windshield right at you.

Don't forget if you go this way to put some capacitors on the small dash speakers. This will prevent the lower frequencies from reaching these speakers and causing them to distort or possibly blow at high volumes.

You may want to consider stepping up to a set of these kickpanels with speakers for the front.

You don't have to cut anything, they will provide a good balance with your 6x9s, and they don't detract from the interior. I put a set in my Barracuda, but upgraded the speakers in them and they really sound nice. Only downside is that your vent doors are limited to how far you can open them. But, they still open and provide plenty of air.

Retro radio makes a 4x10 Dual voice coil that is a direct rwplacement for the stock 4x10. I used it in my demon with 2 JBL 4 way 6x9's and it sounds great!.

THIS!!!

The dual voice coil 4x10 will have substantially better range & bass response than two 3.5" speakers. If I were to build a stock looking audio set up that sounded decent it would be.

Running without an external amplifier means spending a couple more bucks on quality speakers with sensitivity rating in the 90's. A setup like this is 1)easy, 2) inexpensive & 3)sounds very respectable
