Audio Speaker Configuration for 67 Dart Convertible

Seeing as how that space behind the the rear bench is not available for mounting speakers..

what are the alternatives? i am not loosing the back seat.
 
I bought a set of kick panels with speakers in them. Not the greatest sounding but I listening to 8 track through them. Can't remember where I bought them(online). Around $100 if I remember right.

I fabbed up something out of wood and then had them covered with upholstery material that sit on the armrest area of my 67 Barracuda convertible. I have 6 inch round speakers in them as well as kickpanel speakers in the front. I can hear the music real well at 50-60 mph with the top down.
 
I took the existing speaker and traced it on a piece of aluminum. I then used a hole saw and was able to place two holes for 3.5" or 4.0" speakers (pretty sure 4" fit). Would have liked bigger speakers and more separation for stereo, but I wasn't going to cut anything up. I bought some Infinity speakers that can handle some power, but driving it now with an old AM/FM/8 track that's probably 5-10 watts/channel if I'm lucky. Sounds fine. I think a member here sells a similar plate.
 
IS there space in the door. That would be my first check. Also look at the top of the dash for any space. How much space is behind the seat. Not familiar with your cars interior. You could alse fab up some small boxes and put them under your seat
 
We mounted some indoor/outdoor small speaker boxes to the floor of the trunk (the back of the high area) in my son's Dart. You can't hear them with the top down, but it sounds good with the top up. The other speakers are two-way with the tweeter in the top of the dash and the mid/low in the kick panel.

Since my Barracuda is a little more of a 70's style hot rod I may cut the door panels and put some speakers in the doors. I haven't made a decision on the rear speakers, but I may do the unthinkable and put them in the side panels (I might also trade my uncut Barracuda panels for a pair that are cut plus a little cash...).
 
What I made didn't need any cutting on the side panels, they just sit on top of the side panel where the small padded piece goes. After removing the padded piece I set the speaker mount on there and ran screws up from underneath.

Planning my system in my 67' Dart convertible now. I'm worried about both the sound and the lack of security, since a thief can just cut the top to gain access. I've decided to use a bluetooth amplifier (hidden) to play Pandora from my phone, the same as I use in my 2015 Mazda daily-driver. That way the AM radio stays in the dash for appearances (and thieves), and my "stereo" (phone) goes with me.

I bought a pair of the 4x6 kick panels for the front, and I'm looking at a single (or dual) powered under-seat subwoofers for the front seats (the BT amp has preamp outputs). Hoping this provides enough sound for top-down driving. We'll see.

I can't find the pics, but we put the stereo in my son's glove box and a stock radio in the dash.
 
My door panels were not exactly mint so I mounted 6 1/2" in the lower front door panels and 4 1/2 in the upper door corners. They are shallow speakers and everything works, the smaller ones provide sound to the rear seat area and with a decent stereo provide lots of volume for top down cruising.
