Going thru some nostalgia jams and got to thinking about some awesome bands that were on the cusp of fame but didn't make it. Here are two of my favorites. Please add yours.

Oldschoolcuda

UFO

Screaming Trees

This need qualification.
What comes to mind is groups that were bigger in England than they ever where here.
(I'd put UFO in that group. Bigger in Germany too. Schneker maybe?)
"The Quo" for instance. Most people in America (other then maybe in this thread) couldn't tell you who they are. But they opened Live Aid.
And Mott. Who knows that Ian Hunter wrote Cleveland Rock?
Other than that sub-group there are lots of groups that were "underated" and never made it.
Someone gave a good reason for it on youtube from an inside perspective of period record company marketing. Much better than I could. If I find it I'll post.

Not a debate here on qualifications. Looking for bands that inspired you but didn't become mainstream for one reason or the other.

Good.
Ok, I'll add The Move.
EOL, sure. Do Ya?
But The Move in America?
I don't think so.
Do Ya?
First song ever played on Radio 1: "Flowers In The Rain".
Heard it here?

True story. I was a pallbearer at my aunt's funeral in March 77. (just looked up the date)
It was raining when I got in my 69 Coronet and turned on the radio.
First song on: "The Pits" , Hagar.

Still looking for that youtube comment.
Many groups that should have "made it" but didn't

My 2 favorite bands of all time. They are both Canadian bands. The last band I was in and formed was called Border Patrol. We covered mostly Canadian rock bands:

Rush, Triumph, April Wine, SAGA, Loverboy, Heart, Honeymoon Suite,The Kings...
I'm not Canadian but I sure love their rock bands!
