Hi,

The additional axle that came with our purchase was supposed to be "just install" unit according to the PO.

We replaced the bearings and took the unit out to a trans place that is owned by a MOPAR guy. I gather that the pumpkin was in bad shape (same story for the transmission that came with the car as well but that is another story) so a replacement was installed.

I have ordered all the parts I need to put the brakes on (in on this Thursday) so the other day I installed the backing plates. I am not sure if it me but one side didn't seam to snug in like the other.

Is this normal or did I do something stoopid ?

Thanks, Ian.

Are the backing plates the same? You might have one b body and one a body or two different size ex. A 10x2 vs 10x2.5 show size

Green bearings or tapered bearings?

Green.

The plates are the same.

It is like the end of the axle isn't going as deep into the pumpkin like the other one.

Did I need to take the fill plug out before I re inserted the axle. Is there something on the pumpkin that i need to do before I insert ? I have read the service manual and I don't see anything.

Lastly, will the axle slide in further when it is used ?

Thanks
ian.

The green bearing press fit dictates where the axle sits in the pumpkin. They will not move, nor can they be adjusted. It is what it "was pressed at" is....

Pishta,

So it is what it it is and not to worry about it ?

Thanks, I thought I had done something wrong. Now I can continue with the brakes.

Ian.

I wouldnt worry if a competant person did the pressing and got the depth correct. The adjuster is not/cant be used on a green bearing.
