I took my '65 Dart to the local track yesterday. I haven't raced for twenty years. A lot has changed. The biggest and most noticeable, there are now no tech inspections. The little car actually did better than I had hoped. It turned an 8.77 on street tires, with mufflers, stock column shift 904, and a suregrip 4.10. My light was still pretty good for an old man. Too bad that I had an 8.84 dial in. My grandson and I had a ball! Hooked again after all these years.

Congrats! Glad you had a good time with your grandson. How about some pics.

if i went to run and they had no tech inspection i,d find a better track.no tech is unsafe and crazy.

They had a couple of cars there that should have been in a junk yard. Others were obviously well built. I noticed a couple of cars running in both electronic and no-box classes. When I raced at Detroit dragstrip years ago, a malfunctioning neutral safety switch would get you dq'd.
