That sucks...
Tanks and sending units are cheap enough why mess with it
When I replaced my entire fuel system, my original sender was worse than the one pictured. At the time I didn`t know that all the replacement pick ups wont read right, mine sucks !
I've stripped all the lines. Duster has a different vent system on it then my 68 Dart. The gas tank on the Duster has a three rubber hose in a series into the tank. I can probably bypass some of that as long as the vent tube is vented
My new tank had a vent line coming out at the top front, I ran it around and up in the trunk, made 2 small coilshi up, and ran it back down thru the trunk floor, that and orig vented flip gas cap have given me no problems, even when filling it. I had a new 68 fastback back in 1968 , that wouldn`t take fuel w/o spitting back out the filler tube , guess it needed more vent even back then. ????
Ya this a totally different animal then my Dart. Dart has one vent tube exits the trunk floor. The Duster has the filler tube and then a huge vent tube. Between brake line and fuel line I probably pulled about 30' of line out
Everything's shot . Gas was in there so long it ate the sending unit. Like I said not worth the time messing with it.

Ya I know its cool . Some guys would go the extra mile and clean it if they can because its original and there's nothing wrong with that. Problem is something setting in a tank that long
That's the way mine was. Be sure and come up with a rebuilt or good orig. sender, the aftermarket ones are junk, at least mine is !
I'd always wounded if a chunk would break off and clog things up. I pay a little more for a good sender.
Don't mind pulling tanks , got it down to an art but once I get something set up I don't like fiddling with it again. On my Dart before I put the sender in I made a little clamp with a screw so I could adjust float . Figured where float should be at bottom of tank ., this way if I had to adjust I didn't have to keep bending float rod.
