im always on the hunt for a 4 speed for my car. the ball and trunion trannys are popping up pretty often now. was wondering how hard and what the cost would be to switch it to a slip yoke. my car already has a slip yoke 3spd.

Probably not worth the effort unless you had the correct main shaft and tail housing
laying around and could do the rebuild yourself.
I've got piles of 833 parts laying around and wouldnt mess with it myself.
Patience will get you the trans you need at a good price. Most I've paid
for good used 833s is 400. And that's because it was a 18 spline.
23 splines 300. max and most 75.00 to 150.00. Watch local sales for the best
deals and ask around. A buddy's uncle probably has one under the workbench
for the last 20 years. The old guy with the cameros tore apart in his yard.

they havent been cheep for years. the standard 23 splines are going for 450+ around here. the ball and trunions are going for around 150. ive been on the hunt for more then a few years now.

price varies a lot place to place. makes a lot of difference if you KNOW the condition of the tranny. lot of difference in actual value between core and a GOOD one. trunnion trannys should be always be cheap period. A body trannys are the cheapest.

You're gonna have to either get lucky and find the parts on an otherwise dead four speed, or kill a good four speed to do it. One is a slim chance and the other is stupid. I would just save up for a later 833.
