Ballast Wires getting hot

The blue wire from the ballast is getting warm the wire itself is fine but the factory cover for the connector has started to melt. The car runs fine etc and the wires themself look fine.

Its an MSD .8ohm ballast as well. Could it just be 38 year old plastic not holding up?

Make sure the connector to the ballast is not wiggle loose.
Get a pair of needle noise pliers and give them a little squeeze and get a better connection, A bad connection will make the wire hot.

I'm going to replace the connector outright so that should solve the issue then.
