I have a Antique Auto battery that I bought in 2001 and now it's going bad, only puts out 200 cranking amps. Tried to save it by flushing and adding new acid. It didnt work.
Question is, has anybody cut the bottom off and fit a smaller battery in the old case? And used cables from the old terminals to the new ones. Seems like it might work.
Thanks for any help. Bob

Sure will work. It will appear as though it is on old battery, BUT doing so is EXTREMELY dangerous, and I would recommend NOT doing it. Buy a new one if you like the look of the old style battery.

I agree with Goerge ... ALSO you can buy fake top old style battery tops ... they sit ontop of aftermarket battery with to holes cut out for new style battery posts ...
This would be alot cheaper and safer..
Keep in mind that a new battery will probably set you back 80-90 dollars + fake battery top ( not sure on there price ) = ????
Research the antique battery prices ... there is alot of distributors out there , alot cheaper than year one etc.......
