You could get some 1/8 or 1/4" plate and drill a hole to raise the engine a bit and see if the noise goes away. Then you I owe it's a clearance issue

Similar problem with my Barracuda, turned out to be flex plate bolt coming loose and hitting sometimes.

I tried something today I put a kitchen heat pad between the heater tube and the steering box. That made a difference. Now what to use permently and how to keep it inplace lol

MMM you might have an idea there i just be able to get a saws all and cut small chunk from the steering box

Seriously, raise the front of the engine 1/8" might be all you need.
New motor mounts might also give you the extra space.
You can also rotate the engine in the k frame a bit. Loosen the mount bolts rotate slightly then tighten
