I will ask this here because you know why.... it is better than FBBO.
I have a A833 66 up 4 speed that takes the 4.8 bell register. I have no bell right now. We know those bells are crazy high. Going in a 64 Savoy.
If I had the earlier bell with the 4.3 register, can I have it milled for the 4.8 hole??
 
If you have the small bolt pattern, 3.70, you can use all three front bearing retainers, 4.354, 4.807, and the O/D 5.125 Outer Diameters. If you have the large bolt pattern, 4.16, you can use the 4.807 OD or the O/D 5.125 OD front bearing retainer.

I have the smaller 3.70. If I had a 4.354 retainer I could use my trans on the easier to find bell or even a SB bell. I have no desir to pay the $ they want for a "11 inch" bell."

The world is your oyster. You can just buy any front retainer and use whatever bell you want. Brewers, Passon, have them. You can also sell your smaller front retainer.
