bellhousing oil pan fit

When trying to reassemble Lakewood bellhousing in 72 Dart 360, I noticed back part of oil pan flange sticks out past the back of motor. Because of this I cannot place motor shield flush against back of motor. What do you guys do for this? The oil pan is aftermarket 7 or 8 quart, but I'm not sure what brand.

It looks like I'm going to notch out the plate to get clearance.

I used a Quick Time Bell. I had to notch my motor plate to clear the pan seal flange. Attach the motor plate at the top with two bolts, mark plate for small slits to clear flange.
