Was changing spark plugs and noticed chafing on the drool tube for number 1. Turns out got a bent pushrod. Car ran fine, got compression, no noises, no overly adjusted rockers. Guess I'll just hammer it back straight and continue on with life. Planning to swap in a v8 anyways,, it's just odd. To tell the truth over only ever driven the car on and off the trailer, then right into the garage to do paint and body.

Do you always pull the valve covers when you change the spark plugs? Because what a lucky find.

Do you know what a straightened - bent prod will do? Bend again.....

I drove one for almost three years with a pushrod I removed and hammered out straight on a vise. It was a running engine when I pulled it for a 360. I gave it to a friend. It may still be running somewhere. lol

I did the same with a pushrod on the sixer in my falcon. Bent when I got it. Hammered it straight on concrete and drove the car for 6000 more miles before I yanked it.
