best compression ratio street build?

A 2.94 would help. Alot depends on tire height. The 3.23 works great with two sets of tires and speedo gears for the trans. Like a 26 inch for around town and a 29 inch on long road trips. 25 to 28 inch might work better depend on the car body.

A 2.94 gear with 28 inch tires in back could maybe get 20 mpg @ 60 mph. Back in the 55 mph days we heard all the time how 70-75 mph was so wasteful compared to 55 mph. Today they just gear the heck down on the new cars. Like 2.94 gears WITH overdrive!

Yeah see I'm going to be cruising most of the time at 75 or over... Tires will most likely be 255/60-15 on 15" Rallyes which comes out to a little over 27" tall. With 2.94s my cruising RPM should be around 2800 RPM, 3100 with the 3.21s. So the big question is how much more fuel does a 360 Magnum drink at 3100 RPM vs. 2800?

I would keep the 2.94 for 75 mph. Don't forget about 2nd gear, with 3.23 at times you be going a little too fast to hit 2nd gear for a quick pass. 3.23 likes 90+ in 3rd gear to pull great...that is a little too fast for many places. With 2.94 in 2nd gear it be a 4.26 gear, perfect at 75 mph in 2nd gear to floor it. 4,000 rpm+ you be at, @ 100 mph in 2nd gear it be 5,300 rpm-before t.c. slippage-like 5,500 figure. So you see 2nd gear would pull great until like 110 8)

BTW, as you go East the speed limits drop. Some states its just 65 mph and if you go in to Indiana those meanies enforce the 55 mph zones. I past though Indy last spring and seen cops everywhere in the pretty big 55 mph area and even the 65 zone. As I left to go to IL, a cop was right by the welcome to Indiana sign in a gray semi mark car. Really nice state, must have seen 7 or 8 cars pulled over in the two hours I went through there. So be careful. Got in that evening around 7pm, cars were going 65 in the 55 but cops were around and cars were stop. That next morning around 9am cops everywhere, hiding and sneaking all around I-70.

Ohio wasn't bad, IL wasn't bad, Michigan isn't bad. Not sure what is up with Indiana. In fact I would go around the state if you can, ha ha.

No they did not get me--I went the limit--and I got 3.91 gears and a 26 inch tire in my ride, lol but that car stayed home!!

That is a good point, I forgot about the lower eastern speed limits. At this point I may end up taking my Cherokee instead because of the EFI and 4x4 for winter, and my Duster may not be done by then due to recent budget cuts LOL.
