Best manual transmission

I have a friend that is building an old rat rod truck and is going to use an old 318 for a motor. He want to put a manual trans behind it and asked me what would be the best/ easiest to find manual trans to bolt up to it... I had no idea so i figured you guys would be able to help me out so i can pass some info along to him.

I agree with the A-833 (especially an OD model), there are plenty of them around since they seem to last forever. Biggest issue will be adapting clutch linkage and getting trans that locates shifter where he needs it. If he can find a complete setup (or most of one) that is the way to go.
