I am looking for the best option oil pan for my 408 bracket engine. Who makes the best one?
I have the QA1 K frame.Stock K frame?
Currently, probably the Kevco, like Rusty said.
All-time best (for bracket racing)?
The Milodon Super Stock 9 quart pan, with some caveats.
First, it's no longer produced. Hasn't been for quite a while now. Still highly sought after, so good luck finding one, and $$ if you do.
Second, it requires it's own specific oil pickup, also unavailable new.
Third, I'm not aware of any version made for the 360, only the 340/318/273. The rear pan seal is the difference (smaller on the 360/Magnums), although I have seen guys make a spacer for the pan and use the 360 rear pan seal. I'm assuming your 408 to be a 360/5.9 based engine.

The only problem I see with the Kevco pan, is there are no pictures of the crank scrappers. I built my own when I used a Milodon pan on 15+ years ago. From what I've read recently here and on others sites is that Milodon QC sucks recently.

Yeah, it's serious. You did ask for "best performing".I have the QA1 K frame.
That’s a serious looking pan.
Torsion bar with stock steering box.Yeah, it's serious. You did ask for "best performing".
Which QA1 K frame do you have? Lotsa different ones- torsion bar with stock steering and coilover with stock steering will pretty much limit you to a center-sump pan; the coilover with front-steer rack and pinion steering opens up a whole bunch of possibilities for rear-sump or dragster- type pans without having to deal with a crossover tube for the steering centerlink.
Check out Kevco, Canton and Champ to name a few.
I do have a Ishihara-Johnson scrapper. Not sure if that’s any better than Kevco’s though. That’s because what they call a crank scraper isn’t a crank scraper.

I did not. That I-J scraper is actually a scraper. The one in the Kevco pan isn't. He makes the best scrapers in the business. Hopefully you sprung for the up and down scrapers plus the teflon insert.
I have one of those SS Milodons on my shelf. Believe I have the pump and pickup as well. Was planning on using it on my SB 380 but ended up going with a Kevko. Think I'd have 11qts of oil when using my remote filter. Lol.
What about a six Qt. pan? Trucks and Vans already have them, and they are a dime a dozen. Just make sure you grab the pick-up tube. Only problem is, you need to adjust for the opposite side for the sump. You can run that pan with 11 quarts but it makes more power with 8 quarts. That’s all it really needs.
