Can a 383 be bolted to the K-member then raised up into the body? This is how the factory did it with small blocks. Was it done the same way with the big blocks or are they to wide?
Definitely the easiest way to do it. US Car Tool makes a K-frame dolly as well as a front end lifting tool. Its pricey but maybe you can get some ideas from looking at how theirs is put together.
Recently done with everything but the fan and alternator installed! Easiest thing I have done!!!
I have pulled and installed the other way, but it was so easy to install the engine and trans from the bottom as s complete assembly with the suspension. I will never do it any other way!!
Yes! Install the engine on the &-frame but without any thing bolted to the block or engine front. Have the headers hanging on the heads. Lightly bolted on for quick removal and adjustment. Also have the radiator out of the car.
This is the way to go.
