Apollo 8 Lunar Module Pilot Bill Anders killed in the plane crash in Washington. Age 90.

Apollo 8 was first around the moon and the last fully intact Apollo crew until last November when Col Borman died. Now, with Gen Anders death, only Jim Lovell remains from the first crew to ever see the dark side of the moon.

Gods Speed Apollo 8

He took what is now the legendary ‘earthrise’ photo as their spacecraft was orbiting the moon.

He appeared to be coming out of a dive but didn’t have enough altitude to level off before impacting the water.

Wow, sorry to hear of his death.
R.I.P.
I have a poster of that picture hanging up, here in my house.
Think it was out of the National Geographic magazine, decades ago.
