I was just wondering is it possible to blow a head gasket but still have compression on all cylinders. I didn't think it was possible but a friend of mine was told different today and told that his car needs a head gasket but we did a compression test on all cylinders and there was compression all around some cylinders different from others but we didn't warm the engine also

It's possible. Right now my Cuda has a leaking head gasket but it leaks coolant to the outside. It don't affect how it runs. It just looses a small ammount of coolant (about a pint a week). The coolant isn't going into the oil either. This is about the only situation that I can think of though where one can be leaking or blown and the engine still have compression and run right.

What was the reason the person gave your friend that it needed a new head gasket?

It can be blown in a dozen ways. or perhaps better described as..leaking. You said the pressures are different. That's the first thing to throw up the flags.

Let me guess....Felpro

It's probably pushing between the bores, do a leak down a CT won't tell you much.
