there is a thread on here that guy got an engine from them.the engine was crap.they made it good but took over a year i think?:wack:

From what I've read the only reason they even made it good is because the guy raised a huge stink all over the internet. In the end to make it good he had to keep his mouth shut about the whole deal. I wouldn't give them 1 penny of my money. There are at least 2 good engine builders on the board here that'll do you right. May cost just a little more but at least it'll be right. I'm talking about Brian @ IMM and Mike @ MRL

For a 4 spd. I'd want a forged crank

have not read anything good about them.. there were threads here and over on moparts about them and bad experiences.

GOOGLE Marshall blue print engines, ripoff will pop up that should give you some indication. I work as an automotive tech for a large fleet we have had a lot of problems with said engines.

You don't "need" a forged crank unless the car is going to live in a high abuse arena.

You could build it yourself for less.

Thanks for all the responses I am gonna just build it myself. I would end up with a completely new motor cause nothin is reusanle in the block except crank and rods but was tryin to save a few bucks. What do you guys think of scar striker kits

The Scat kits have a good rep. Use there rods along with it if not include. There very strong and cheaper than resizing your old ones. In the long run, you'll be way ahead of the curve.

The Scat rods usually clear the bottom of the bores without grinding ,on a 408. One extra bonus.

Wow, I remember that thread! I forgot all about it.
Blue Print did step up to fix issues and admitted they took to long to do what was right but did what was right. I'm sure there learning curve has been straightened out some as all companies get better over time. (Or should)

Fast01 got a 512 stroker from them. He is happy so far.

Perhaps they did get there act together.....

While I don't have any experience with blueprint engines, I'm pretty sure they use an eagle cast crank in their stroker motors which is a big no no in my opinion.

Ok I have made the dicision with all the comments to go ahead and get one of their engines.....LOL Hell no
Thanks for alll the feed back may end up just gettin a scat kit and usin my block but hey it should be better in the long run.
Should I just go ahead and put out the extra for a forged crank?

AThe stock cast crank,600 + with well managed spray. How much ,you want?. Sorry ,the stock Scat 4" inch arm.My apologies.

I was just looking through their stuff in the Summit catalog a while ago. I noticed they sell brand new blocks too. Geez, seems like everything is from China now.....I'm like...paranoid. LOL

Ha yea I will either do my block or find late 80s early 90s roller block but we will see

If that's all your planning on making a cast crank is fine. Cast is rated to 500 hp. Mines around 450-460 with a cast crank and I've been beating on it nearly 2 yrs. and is holding up fine. If it comes down to a forged crank not costing much more I'd do it just as a measure of safety, but most likely it'll cost quite a bit more.

74DartSwinger360,

Thank you for your interest in BluePrint Engines. If thereare any specific questions you have please give me a call. I want toaddress a couple of the posts referenced in this thread. One of the posts isfrom 2007 (before I joined BluePrint) so I am not going to address thatspecifically but I will tell you we had some issues back then and we have madea number of changes internally (beefed up quality control, completely newcustomer service and tech support teams) to address those issues. I willalso guarantee you that every BluePrint Engine is dyno tested prior to leavingour facility. If the engine is not sold with an intake, carb and distributorthose parts are put on the engine prior to the engine being put on the dyno andtaken off of the engine prior to being put in the crate. On the thread that inkjunkie refers to is in reference to 2 different engines . The first wasa shortblock (which we do not provide any warranty coverage) We did bring thisassembly back and upon inspection we did find abnormal wear on the bearings andwe fixed the short block and sent back to the customer. The second engineon that thread had some oil pressure and carb issues, we sent out some updatedparts and the vehicle owner has been driving the vehicle withoutproblems. I don’t believe this is anything special but does show you ifwe make a mistake we will stand behind it and get it addressed. I believe aslong as we continue to do that we will continue to experience success. Keep inmind we sell through Summit, Jegs, Speedway and Pace Performance to name a few,do you think they would continue to put BluePrint Engines in their books if weweren’t taking care of the customer? Also on the question about the blocks thatwe have started to offer, we have designed the block it is our own casting. Theblocks are all cast and machined here in the USA. We have had a ton ofinterest in this product and are excited about the potential.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have anyquestions.

Thank You,

Andrew Obermeier
