He and I keep in touch and have talked about the car. It is a modern nascar with the Daytona body. R5p7 motor, etc. Flush windows, modified body, roof flaps. Etc. I believe it has gone about 230. He built a Talledega also, similar build with Rousch Yates motorWhere’s the “love” button?
I had considered a more Blowfish style as an alternative. Prostock style rear spoiler and a Daytona nose. I would have to either just run in Open class or move to Competition Coupe. Then definitely no records for meView attachment 1716351812
Troy’s Blowfish has to be one of my favorites.
A friend pointed out if I run in the 150 club but the car is faster I will never know and can't have a direct comparison in speed. So, I will need to research open/timed and how they figure speed vs safety equipmentSo I have been thinking this AM. I am going to finish the car and run in the 150 club in Sept. Then, for 2026, convert the car to a Daytona leaving as much else alone as I can. See what the car picks up for speed with aero alone.
I couldn’t deal with temps like that. Not sure how you do it. Last night here, it got down to 45 and today it’s supposed to be a high of 70.I am taking Friday off work. It has been in the teens tempwise lately and it's supposed to warm up to 40⁰. Then -2⁰ as a high with -12⁰ lows for a few days. Being it will be "hot" out, I need some garage time. Will still have 48hrs in so no worries about vacation days, just the loss of 12hrs of OT.
I guess it's a combo of no real choice and lots of time not doing it. I will have heat and insulation again, someday. Way to rub it in. Thanks. It helps....lolI couldn’t deal with temps like that. Not sure how you do it. Last night here, it got down to 45 and today it’s supposed to be a high of 70.
Lmao I certainly was not trying to rub it in. More so calling myself a little sissy for not being able to deal with the cold.I guess it's a combo of no real choice and lots of time not doing it. I will have heat and insulation again, someday. Way to rub it in. Thanks. It helps....lol
Nah, it is all relative. I mean, with this cold snap, it will seem very nice and warm. Not long ago 40 was pretty damn cold. You guys aren't used to it. I can't do the heat and humidity (not that you guys get that either I suppose) - dry heat seems ok/nice/preferred. Cold sucks. If I could find a place, 50 at night and 70 during the day year round, I would be in - unless that is what you get mostly - California isn't going to work for me..LOLLmao I certainly was not trying to rub it in. My last house had a shop with a furnace. I found I liked having the thermostat set at 50 all winter. Perfect for working with a heavy shirt, no jacket or gloves. My garage is attached to the house and generally stays between 5 and 10 C (40-50 F). I find I can work pretty comfortably out there with a jacket on.
I have gone through more than I can rememberYou should see my ratty shop coat!
That’s pretty much our weather 10 months of the year. Little hotter mid summer and a little humidity where I’m at.Nah, it is all relative. Who’s naysaying? Say the word an I’ll be out there swinging a stick!!Quick Rant....
Why are so many people A$$holes? Why do they discourage with every attempt? People wonder why they give up on attempting to follow their dreams with their own ideas/vision.
Rant Over - carry on
I will live vicariously through you weather wise....That’s pretty much our weather 10 months of the year. Little hotter mid summer and a little humidity where I’m at.

In all seriousness I have no idea why people have that attitude. “My thing is better than your thing”, “you’ll never succeed unless you do it my way”, that kind of crap needs to die and it keeps people like that from ever accomplishing anything. **** them. You’re killin it!!
