bought a Borgeson steering box, pump and hose kit but as you can see, the return line is crazy short and the pressure line was super awkward to hook up. Seemed like the wrong kit! All was ordered at once so....
Anyone else have issues like this? Can I couple this return line? Or do I need to get different kit?

who did you order from? you can have new lines made but i'd call whoever sold that.

My pump return line is pointed to the driver-side, not up, is that the right pump?

Looks like a /6 kit. You could make it work if you cut the clamp off of the return hose and pull the entire hose off the fitting, then get a longer hose same diameter and 2 worm clamps. It will loop way up though and look odd but the return is not pressurised and just needs to flow back into the pump reservoir.

That is odd to say the least. Maybe if the the pump were 6 inches lower but that looks wrong. It's even pointing in the wrong direction.

This may be a dumb idea, but could you get a tubing bender on it and turn it toward the box? Also how was the install, been thinking about doing the same but it's going to be a tight fit with the headers. Did you have to take the motor out or lift it up?

Its pretty tight thats for sure. I ended up installing spacers in the drivers side engine mount to gain the small amount of room needed for clearance. Had everything out anyways so it wasn't any extra work.
Not finished yet but it seems good so far.

So did you have to unhook the headers, lift the engine, etc?

I had the steering box installed, motor installed on the k member and lifted the car up....installed everything from underside. So it was all together when I installed. I had to install the spacers to ensure the extr clearance, but headers were bolted on securely ya

This looks like our #800326 power steering pump that we would include on a Chrysler LA small block pump kit that mount the pump much lower on the drivers side. We use a different pump pulley and reservoir for big block applications, on the big block pump the return tube exits the center and points down.

So you believe I have the proper hoses but the wrong pump.
Would you happen to have the part number for the proper pump?

The Saginaw pump with pulley for Big Block Mopar applications is our part #800321, we also offer it as a pump, bracket and pulley kit under #800338 however since you have the brackets you would only need the pump with pulley #800321

I think the output (high pressure ) is in the the same Place on all Saginaw pumps. The return line is bent different ways depending on application. If you just use a longer return hose (about $5), it should work fine. Might not look as good with the top exit the way you have it. You can also change the tin pump housing if you have another one. I think all the Saginaw pumps fit in all the housings. Seems a shame to have to buy another whole pump for that.

i don't know why he would have to buy a new one, return for the correct one or just re-plumb the one he has. i'd probably just bend the tube like D's said. but it's jacked up you had to mess with spacers to get it to work

He only needed spacers due to it being a small block pump/pulley, the big block Mopar pulley has a different offset that pushes the pulley further away from the pump. Give our office a call you can send that whole pump/pulley in and we can swap it for you.

I really appreciate your willingness to help me out here!
Unfortunately, I purchased the Borgeson pump, steering box, and hose kit from Summit Racing. It was their mistake as I ordered the correct one for a 383BB.
I finally got a hold of them today after an hour of listening to elevator music recorded voice messages, and I was promised to get a call back tomorrow morning. She said she was going to call Borgeson and see what they said. (I told her what you said)
I live in Canada so I want to ensure that shipping will not be an issue for an exchange item. I do not feel it should be my responsibility...I paid the first time lol

My kit uses factory hoses, factory style bolt on pullies! I'm a site sponsor too.

I can now see the value in ordering straight from Borgeson or other site sponsors like Bergman due to their knowledge on our specific vehicles...live and learn.

FWIW, I bought the Borgeson kit for the LA in my 73 Sport from the member on here. Everything fit but I did have to do a fair amount of bending on one hose to get clearance and fit the pump.

UPDATE
After I told them that Borgeson had offered to swap the pump, they said I should do that. I didn't feel right about having Borgeson dealing with their mistake. They had no choice but to agree, so they said they would replace it, no problem. Now it has been a number of weeks and I contacted them only to find out they were no longer willing to send me the 800321 pump without me paying them $70.80 the difference between BRG-800338 and the small block pump they originally sent me. I informed them that the pump I want is the 800321 which is the same price, but as per their site, it is no longer available?? Unfortunately for me, I purchased three brackets locally trying to make the pump they sent me work so I do not need the BRG-800338 kit.
I am so frustrated with Summit!!
First they send the wrong pump. Then I pay to ship it back. Now they go back on their word.
So silly. Over a $200 pump, from an order for which I ordered with a few thousand dollars of product.
And still no pump...

That’s odd, did you order the pump online or over the phone?

Sorry for your troubles. The good thing about being small is you can handle things quick. I’m also available almost any time. Live and learn.
