:thumrigh: Ok i am thinking puting a 5.7 under the hood of my 65. I know most will say dont do it. I am wondering whatproblems can i expect to come across. heres what im thinking.

5.7 HEMI + T-56 (Viper) 6speed Trans + 8 3/2 rear with 3.92s, also to compensate for the clearance issue body lift the front 2-4 inches.

Now i know its going to cost a bit to do but im in the planning dream phase. Thanks in advance. :thumleft:

Someone is working on doing this swapp right now. I saw a link on moparts about it. I'll see if I can find it again.

Thanks adam. do you remember what kind of car hes doing it in? and a link would be nice too. Thanks again.

I went to check for you but like usual I cant get on to Moparts. Tom needs a major upgrade.

I'm considering the same engine swap. Except I would use either a Keisler 5 Speed (www.keislerauto.com) or a 5 Speed Chrysler Autostick. If I remember right your 65 engine bay is a little smaller than my 69 Dart. My main concern is the Hemi fitting with my stock k-frame. I found some websites with some info.

This guy put one in his 67 Cuda. He went with a tubular k-frame, but I don't like the idea of coil over suspension. Plus its expensive!

I think this tubular k-frame makes more sense.

These guys deal alot with the 5.7 Hemi. Although I don't think they have put one in an A-Body. They even have some engine measurements that might help you.

I think this is going to be a HOT engine swap into older Mopars, but I also feel that a rare or valuable Mopar should be restored to original. Otherwise I feel that Mopars are made to be driven and everone should build their dream car they way they want.

Nick, I agree, If this car had the orginal engine i would restore it. I love the look of a restored car. But what im going to do is im goting to do a restoration on he exterior of the car, the interior is going to be slightly moded but not to much. I have some black walnut that im am going to mill down to fit diffrent trim pieces. And i am going to make a custom center console for it.

as for the engine bay I have a diffrent k-member than stock i need to get the car here to FL so i can start ripping it down to take mesurements.

Heres the link

The 65 Barracuda

Stay away from the DARE K frame. LRT or Alterkation is the way to go.
