Breather blow by

I use the ME Wagner, adjustable pcv valve. You do need to get the correct valve cover grommet.

Now that I have a tune-up kit from @halifaxhops I am going to try the Wagner out. @Mcfarlrm The Wagner adjustable PCV must be tuned right along the rest of the engine. Don't waste your money if you are going to just put it on and hope the screws are set correctly. If you buy it, also invest your time or money into a complete tune up as well.

Just looking for something that is plug and play and good quality. Will adjust carb a bit if needed.

Then any parts store PCV will do but just know that those work in a narrow range. Going that route is okay but you may want to also plug in a oil catch can to pick up the crankcase vapors before and after the range of the PCV.

I use a Wagner PCV and a Moroso catch can with a M-6892-F grommet for the PCV valve

FACT^^^

It’s pretty simple to do to tune it but if guys don’t want to tune it they are better off with an OE type of PCV valve.

Once you use the Wagner PCV and get it dialed in (super easy on a dyno) it sad when you can’t get guys to use them.

A pcv on one side, and a baffled breather on the other side should be all you need. That is why I don't run aftermarket valve covers. Other than that you are getting too much blowby past the rings.
Back in 1980, when my 340 had well over 100K miles on it, I started getting a lot of oily blowby. Still ran good, but it made it hard to keep the motor clean. Took the motor apart and I had five broken rings.

What I like about the valve is you can use it on different engine combinations all you have to do is re-tune it which is pretty simple even for an old fart like me

If you have any questions you can also call Wagner and ask for Gene they will be happy to answer your questions

Wagner should also be able to steer you in the right direction for a valve cover grommet. They are different for stock steel or say Mopar performance aluminum valve covers. The pcv valve is 3/4" instead of the stock 1/2", both grommets are Ford part numbers, available through Summit I believe. Any oil mist separator should work, installed between the pcv valve and the carb.

Getting around to doing this today. Breather on valve cover is completely stuck, won't turn at all for whatever reason. Tried everything from using an oil filter wrench, a couple love taps from a hammer to try to loosen it, etc. Should I just knock the damn thing off with a hammer at this point? Obviously don't want to damage the valve cover but seems like the breather would give way well before doing any damage to the cover.

Pull the valve cover and look at the other side . Must be a reason. If you have any breathers or a pcv valve, you do need to have baffles under those locations. You have 3 holes in your covers? Are there 3 baffles? If not, the rockers will really throw oil at it.

Three holes and baffles. I think part of the issue is the rubber washer was not used between the cover and breather since we could not get it to seat deep enough to screw on with the rubber washer being used. Didn't want to have to resort to pulling the cover but that may be the only option.

May be your style/brand of breather too. I have different ones, no rubber washer.

Have to pivot here and install the PCV on the twist in side of the valve cover, which is baffled. Removed the rear breather to find that it is not baffled so will need to find a push in style oil filler cap. This is a smaller diameter than the twist in side so need to find a push in filler cap that will fit here. Any suggestions?
