i have a 74 duster 318 just put new mopar performance valve covers on it. are breathers necessary? i have 1 hole drilled in the one for a pcv valve theres a spot to drill another hole to put a breather in but want to make sure it is necessary before i tear them off to drill another hole.

thanks

If you are pulling air out of the motor (PCV) then you need a way in for filter air (breather)

ok thanks. im hoping to find a grommet that will cover one of the oil cap holes. so i dont have to drill a new hole

If they take the caps that have the two tabs on them you can get a cap with a breather at most any auto parts that carry chrome stuff. And yes you do need a breather, don't ask how I know.

Yup, just pick up a twist on breather from Autozone (~5 bucks) and put it on in place of the filler cap.

On a related note is there a way to put the pcv valve in place of one of the oil caps. I have a pair of cal custom valve covers and I hate to drill the hole for a pcv, but will if I have to.
