Hello,

Just though I'd share some interesting stuff...

I had to replace not 1, but both rear shocks that were literally broken!

What a pain in the *** that was to remove them lol.

Also as you can see in the pictures, you will notice a 8 3/4 rear end with a heaviest duty 489 stamped case in my 1972 Dodge Dart Swinger 225CI Slant 6 which I think is interesting and that I lucked out!

Yep, Check the right box when the car was ordered new and a 8 3/4 was available with a slant. Odd about the shocks. Looks like it has been sitting awhile.

Did it get driven over railroad tracks or what?
Never seen shocks broken that way.

Shocks look OLD. By 1972 they were looking to use up a lot of the A-body 8-3/4 rears, BUT I also saw a '70 Valiant four door in a wrecking yard a number of years ago that was a slant with K-H discs, handling package, and 8-3/4. Looked to be a fleet car of some sort. I seem to recall a three-speed manual, too.

Looking back at the photos, the broken shock has a nick in it.Could it be from a forklift that was moving it around a storage yard ? Just a guess that may have broken the shock.
