Buffing out scratches in windshield

Have anyone buffed out a wiper scratch in their windshield? Or know if a a glass company could do it? Just wondering...

The general rule on scratched windshield is if you can feel it with your fingernail
it is to deep to buff out.
Light scratches are do able.
May be cheaper to get new windshield though.

Ok, I have tried the steel wool trick, didn't help. Thought I would ask around before taking it out..
