Can someone please tell me what stroke crankshaft I need and where I might buy it at what vendors might have this crank thank you very much for your help Rob

Just dropped off my 400 based 470 kit from 440 Source at the shop to get my block prepped.

They sell different pistons for each based on your heads so need to know what you plan to run.

Not sure they’re balancing job is gonna be the best but we’ll see. Also the bearings are street bearing. My shop wasn’t thrilled but we’ll see how they work out. Definitely all good stuff for a street car.

If this is your first stroker build , i would go for the most complete kit i could find. To me, that means a balanced kit from 440 source. You will need to decide on your cylinder heads first, to get the compression ratio you want, and what overbore to run.
Your 499 ( most round up to call it 500 inches) is 4.375 bore (a common and available ring size, much easier to find than .030 or .040 over's) and a 4.15 stroke.
Same bore size with a 4.25 stroke is 511, 040 over 4.38 bore with 4.25 is a 512.

It is so easy these days.....
When I built my 523 stroker in 1980, none of these 'kits' were around. You had to hand select parts.

Gotta watch the 4.15 kits, some of those run a real short piston. The source kit does and is not good for longevity. I am a fan of their 4.250 kit. We have 2 of them. One in my street car and one in dads race car. They make great engines.

I'm been trying to save for a kit for a while now. I plan on doing the 400-512 kit. 440source seems to have the cheapest kit and many have used their stuff without an issue. Molnar also makes nice kits but are a little more $.
