Have seen more than one caved in door in the parking lot by people watching the backup camera and not where the front end is. LOL
The only use I could see for a back up camera is lining up a trailer, otherwise I absolutely hate them.

It becomes the 4 mirror when backing up, its that simple

In the summer i pull the truck straight into the garage, but in the winter I got a plow on it and I need it to line up just about perfect to get everything to fit and still be able to get in and out of both cars

That's where the target comes in

As for lining up trailers...only if the person who designed the car isn't retarded

I had a back up cam on my CX9, and it was offset

Which means if I backed up to a trailer, with the neck of the trailer dead center in the screen, it would be 8 inches to the left of the towball

What the...? Really?

And here I thought the CX-9 was a "Japanese" product, not Chinese.

Bought a backup camera for my box truck that is mounted in a license plate frame.
Problem is, the license plate is mounted on the far left edge of the truck.
So, I mounted the frame, with steel filler panel on the frame of the lift gate.
It works okay for hooking up a trailer, and making sure there's nothing behind me..... but I try really really hard not to have to back up, and if I do, I crank the wheels so I can see what's behind in the mirror.
I don't use the camera much.

You know...I've never really thought about this! On my Ridgeline the camera is smack dab in the center of the back of the car, and this works out really slick for lining up a trailer.

I guess that's one thing it has going for it....

But I absolutely hate the outdated, POS, "infotainment" system that Honda still puts in the Ridgelines to this day (very common complaint on the Ridgeline Forum), but I'm stuck with it, as it (the screen) covers way too many functions, and no one makes a suitable drop-in replacement.

True story

At some point I grabbed a yellow paint marker and put a big one yellow mark on the bumper, where the trailer hitch actually lines up

That way, I line up the trailer with the paint mark and then om dead on the ball, but way off center on the screen

I have a magnetic rod with a flag on it on stand it on the hitch, centre it to tailgate and viola. Works every time.
