so a few weeks back i parked my car at work, went to go home and it had a TERRIBLE miss to it. pulled my #6 found oil and water in the cylider...so i replaced the head gasket. put it all back together, it ran beautifuly. my accelerator pump has been bad for a while on my car, so a few day ago i bought a rebuild kit and fixed it...put the carb back on, and now its doing the oil burning miss bull crap again...havent pulled plugs yet...but im wondering why it would have taken a break and came back now, im hoping its my valve stem seals?? not my piston rings...any one have some words of wisdome to share with here?

if you have water in the cyl again i bet the head/block is warped/cracked and so the new head gasket sealed it for a bit into it broke...

pull the plugs again...

ugh, what a pain in the ***...that would suck, but i guess that'd be a good reason to spring for a 318...

if it happened again its becasue you didn't have it checked for straightness... unless your running a large amount of boost or big back fires its usually the only reason a head gasket goes...

all they need to do is take .003 or so off (what ever gets the bow out of it)

but might i recommend accurately measuring how far the piston is in the hole, and then mill the head for a 9.2:1 compression... makes a world of difference...

If you find you have to pull the head again, have it rebuilt this time. Surfaced, valve grind, new seals, etc. They'll do a mag on it to check for cracks too.

im just trading the car for a 318 and trans out of a diplomat, gonna put it in my 72 dart.

but i have a question, the 72 had a slant six in from the factory, will i need to change anything structuraly to put a 318 in? like did they change mount positions on the frame between the two or can i just put 318 motor mounts in and bolt it up.

, the 72 had a slant six in from the factory,r can i just put 318 motor mounts in and bolt it up.

You either need a V8 K member or get / build aftermarket special mounts to adapt from the /6 K member to the V8

damn...that sucks.....how hard are they to get a hold of? do you know a cost?

The conversion mounts are available new at Schumacher. The K-member can be from a '68-72 A-body with a small block. Maybe check the parts for sale section here or E-bay or Craig's list.

can you give me a more specific name than Schumacher, because i googled it and come up with a few options...none looked to fit what your talking about
