Bypassing orange ignition box ?

-
Ain’t a thing wrong with the Mopar electronic ignition to this day. If you have or get a old made in the USA orange box they are as dependable as any. One on my Dart is 16 years old. No issue yet. Yes the can fail like any other brand. I have had MSD 6A, 6AL and 7 AL fail on me.

The best box I’ve tested is an old gold race box. IIRC at 10,500 RPM it retarded 1 degree.

Every other brand of box I’ve tested retards way more than that.

Sometimes that's beneficial. Especially if you're looking to reduce detonation on a high compression engine at high RPM. Also, sometimes retarding timing helps high RPM power.

How difficult or practical is it to bypass the orange ignition box on a 73 and later car ? What’s involved ?
If you are questioning the reliability of the orange box.
Just carry a spare box in the trunk.
Most of us do just that along with a spare ballast resistor.
