I have '72 Valiant w/ 225. When looking for 225 parts I'm often asked if it is "C" or "E". What does this mean, and how do I tell the differance?
2 barrel was not avalible till 1977. 5th digit of the vin, c is used for the 225, i dont see e being used at all.C is a 225 with a 1 barrel. E is a special order which is a 225 with a 2 barrel.

Yup, and E=special order 6cyl. Just look at the 5th digit in your VIN and assuming the car still has the original engine, you'll know which you have. In most cases it will be the same part anyway.For get that info.
B= 198
C=225
E = ?
