Camshaft id please...

I Have 2 old school camshafts that id like to get specs on if possible

One is a Norris 356 DMS with a 7 on the left and a D on the right



Other is a Crane on the snout is SS-320-NC and rear 975 uc

can any one give specs and if solid lifter or hyd.

That Crane SS 320 is going to be a BIG solid flat tappet, unless it's been reground. Probably on the order of 320/330 advertised duration. I had an old SS 310 in a Chevy 396 decades ago. It was 310/320 .600/610 ground on a 108 for comparison. But remember, the big Chevy had 1.73 ratio rockers, so the Mopar small block version will have less lift, but I bet I'm spot on on the duration.

It's a 1 bolt cam . it specified as hydraulic special 236 244 @.050. Duration
Lift is .486 & .504 with a 1.5 rocker .
This is why the at .050 numbers are the standard because anyone could be fooled by advertised duration numbers which are useless.
My 264-268 @ .050 cam is barely cracking 300 on advertised.
And this one is 236 @.050 with 320 as advertised lol

All small block cams are one bolt. The old SS series used advertised duration stamped on the cam. Then later, they changed it to the CC series. I don't know what it was after that. The SS grinds were DECADES ago in the 1970s.
 
Keep in mind, that cam card says SSH. That was the SS hydraulic. Different animal.

There was back then, yes. I'm not trying to argue, really. I'm just quoting it like I remember. I've run a few of the old SS grinds and they were all solid.

I agree, but as for the dumb, I see it in the mirror every damned day.
 
@Bighead440 may have some insight. He might even have an old Crane catalog. He's sharp at this kinda stuff.

Hell of a lash though!

The MoPar PurpleShaft solids are .028/.032" pretty much across the board, I always set mine at .024/.026" HOT and had no problems. Much less noise, and I ran them with 1.6 rockers as well. Play around with it, but unless you are lacking bottom end, tighter will be better up to a point.

Chevy was notorious for using lash you could drive a bus through.
