Motorcycle mechanic down from me says to measure camshaft lobe lift I could zero out my dial indicator on the highest point of the lobe, measure the center part of the lobe and subtract the 2 numbers to get a base idea of the size of the camshaft size/lift.

He did a couple real quick and says approx 330 lift on one lobe and 320 on the other ( roughly ) sound right? ( 440 cam )

He then told me I take one of them numbers and use the rocker arm ratio to come up with another useful number but I didnt quite get that cause he said it quickly. Can someone help me to understand what he was getting at?

I can go on you-tube later and figure it out but I cant for the life of me remember how to read this tool?? I know it went around zer approx 16 times to open up wide enough to measure that tall point of the lobe but that dosent help.
