Can someone help me estimate my HP

-
I can make it sound like the vid, and only need a sazall and a cresent wrench. Use the saw to cut off the exhaust. Use the wrench to loosen the dizzy, and toss the timing out A little untill it will barley run. There you go you get the sound and very little go. And did it for 10 min of your time. No need to buy a cam..........

The 318 is a good engine to hop up. Using the commonly available and lesser expensive parts, assuming the heads are not "hogged out" and ruined, I'd say something on the order of 300hp is easy to get out of a daily driver if it's properly done towards performance. If you science it out more, and let us know what the budget is ans if you have power brakes, another 50hp is easy to find.

Do you know this guy? If not, contact him via his screen name and ask him what cam is in it.

This is his page; http://www.youtube.com/user/dragontl1000s?feature=watch

Yeah I emailed him no reply yet

That's easy. .480 lift, 238 @ .050 duration on 108 LSA.

I am think of this one from comp

all here:

FWIW, mine sounds just as good, stock 73 318 bottom end and heads (never touched since 73) ld4b intake, edelbrock 600cfm carb, 340 cam, and headers. Goes pretty good but still not that fast, I'm guessing low 15's high 14s with 3.23 gears and 275/60/15 tires in the 1/4.

Higher comp, bigger cam and better gears and id think you would get low to mid 14s.

Check this build out if you haven't allready:

I really dont care that much for how fast I can make it just want it to sound fast

That cam is way to big. Look at smaller cams with a 110 centerline and install it downward 2*. Or look for a 108 centerline cam. This is where the "Chop" of the idle comes in.

I am really hoping that the guy in the video will Email me back

And after watching some videos on YouTube some of the cars have a very choppy idle but a high pitch thump
And some have a very choppy idle with a deep thump whats the difference

IMO, the Big Mutha Thumpr is too big for a mild build 318. If you want a Thumpr cam, go with the regular Thumpr. Somebody has some 302 heads listed in the classified section that are cheap and work well on 318's. An Edelbrock Performer intake is a good intake for a street 318, or you can go with an Air Gap, but I would stick with the Performer for the low end street torque. Get some Dougs or TTi 1 5/8" headers, and you'll have a fun street car with the sound you want on a budget. You can even skip the headers for now if yor budget is tight. I ran a similar combo in my Duster before I built the stroker for it and could smoke the tires pretty good with a traklok Dana.

If I did change to the big Martha I was going to rebuild the top end to work with it so it would not mess anything up.
