Can someone run a VIN # for me?

Well I am thinking of buying a Chrysler PT Cruiser.
I am curious if by any chance someone has software to run the VIN number for me and give me any information about the car.
I know I can pay for that carfax thing but I figured I'll ask here before I spend all that money.

Call your insurance agent with the VIN. They can check and see if any claims have been paid out (ie. been in an accident) and how much was paid for the repairs.

Mine tole me that one of my cars was in an accident AFTER I already bought it...

Luckily it was just a mild front end work.
