Can you mount a compressor on its side?

Like this? If I put the hoses on the top I can't close the hood. TIA

My AC install has the compressor "clocked" 90* just like yours. It's what I was told to do by Classic Air.
 
They can be mounted straight up (oil fill plug up), or 90* clockwise or counterclockwise. Do not mount upside down.

Seriously, I was wantin a 63 Valiant when I found this 63 Dart I have. I think the 63 Valiant is the best lookin A body ever.
 
Seriously, it took 25 years to find this one! I had a 65 Dart, a 64 Cuda and a host of other interim rides before I came across this one. I'd start a thread about what I did to it, but only you and I would be interested.
 
im not sure what difference it would make how it is mounted , ever seen inside one of these things?Its the same no matter which way up it is
