IIRC 1972 /6 model Mopars had hardened seats and unleaded fuel was ok for extended use. The V-8s followed in 73.

Yes, catalysts came along in 1975. One of the ways around it was to get the GVWR over 6500 lbs. Chevy made a few tire fryer 454 shortbed p/u before Big Brother closed the loophole. Mopar didn't join the madness, too bad.

I have seen cases where they started the changes before they were required to. I've heard that some heads had the hardened seats earlier.
