Car ran slower then expected.

Welcome to the not running the times you expect should run club ! I can't break 13.3 and I know the car should run 12's . Dyno tested 398 hp 413 tq Mahle 10.5 forged Mahle pistons , light port on the stock heads , Air Gap 750 holley street avenger , 8 3/34 3:55 gears stock 340 converter and a Gear Vendors overdrive . 235 60 15 M/T drag radials .
What are your rpm when crossing the line ? I'm at 5300-550 rpm in 2nd overdrive crossing the line .
Going to follow this thread with interest .

Stock converter is were you 12 sec pass failed. Go back to your dyno sheet and see what rpm they started the Dyno Pull at. Now, how high does your stock converter stall at............ your leaving a lot of time at the starting line/60 foot mark.

what rpm were those hp and tq numbers at?? sounds like it may need a better converter an more gear.my day would go througfh the traps at 5900 rpm in third gear.

What gears were you running ? Here are the numbers 413 TQ @ 4300 398 HP @ 5700 . I do a lot of highway , 100 miles a day when I use the car so getting a high stall converter always worried me ,gas is about $7.00 a gallon .

i was running a 3.91 gear and using a 26x9.5 tire when at the track..

well if you get an efficient converter then it will feel like a stock one running around on the street, hell it may even feel better then what ya have now..:). something built into your combo from a place like dynamic, ultimate or ptc. but driving like ya do there will always be a compromise.

I'd turn off the gear vendors and run it through on transmission only.

Every time it shifts it's giving up time/distance

I only use it , or turn it on in 2nd gear if not I cross in 3rd at 3800 rpm , much better in 2nd over . I shift into 2nd over at 5800 rpm 2nd over takes over @ 4600 rpm to 5500 at end of track
Anyhow don't want to hijack the thread , rather folow see what happens , hope to pick up some tips .

Thanks

yea that thing need more gear. but it may hurt your highway so like i said its a compromise.

IF you are running a Gear Vender Over Drive, there's no reason you can't run a 3.91 or even a 4.10
What rpm are you running on the freeway with it in 3d and over?

crackedback, i don't know if you have ever use a G/V over drive but they Kick like Mule! The G/V is a auto clutch applying over drive. The pump is driven off the output shaft so it won't/can't engage under 20 mph.

3rd over at 70-75 mph 2600 - 2800 rpm , guess 3.91 0r 4.10 would be good , be back where I was with 3.23 and no O/D 3000 - 3100 rpm @ 70 - 75 mph . Damn , I just put in the 3.55 gears .
