Carpentry, lowering baseboard.

Yeah but then you would have to go back to 1900 and talk to those builders.

These houses are bound by historical laws. You cant just go changing stuff.

I just take what I'm given and make it look as best I can.

We literally took an existing section of trim from each section of the house, then had custom knifes made to cut the trim.

I dont think you understand the nature of this type of work.

:elmer::poke::thankyou:

Any of you guys ever refinish hardwood floors ?
I have 1050 sq ft of Red Oak and just got a bid of 4700.00
Is this a job I can tackle on my own ?

Thats a stroker short block...lol
We specialize in sanding and finishing hardwood floors. I have seen quite a few do it yourself jobs that have gone terribly bad because proper sanding techniques were not used. Was the company you got the estimate from a National Wood Flooring Association Member? Did they say anything about their sanding process to you? What finish system they were planning on? You’re welcome to pm me if you like.

TA, While you are right on one aspect but again I was not involved in the design.

In these old homes what gives them character is all the detail. If I can be a part of adding to all the cool little details and making them my own then I'm happy. Hopefully my "crazy" base will be in this home for another 120 years and at some point folks will look at my work and think, "dam that guy was a true craftsman".
